An emotional thank you from Jean Béliveau’s granddaughters

MONTREAL – It was one week ago that the elite of the hockey world and Canadian politics gathered to bid a final farewell to hockey great Jean Béliveau.

Béliveau, who passed away Dec. 2 at 83, led the Montreal Canadiens to 10 Stanly Cups in a career that spanned more than 20 years, from 1950 to 1971.

Not only was Béliveau an exceptional player, he has been lauded as a class act, a trait that seems to have been passed down to his granddaughters.

In a heartfelt letter, Béliveau’s granddaughters Mylène and Magalie, expressed their thanks to fans for their passion and kindness, to medical personnel for their care and support, and finally to the Montreal Canadiens and the Molson family for the memorable tributes.

“You can be certain that our grandfather, had he been with us today, wouldn’t have addressed all of you without first expressing his deepest gratitude for the many heartwarming tributes that were shared over the past few days. We would like to take this moment, first and foremost, to say a special thanks to all of you.”
