VANCOUVER – The RCMP officer who was shot during a traffic stop in Kamloops earlier this month has now been removed from the Intensive Care Unit.
Cpl. Jean Rene Michaud was shot during a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Dec. 3. He continues to recover from his injuries in hospital but he has successfully survived two surgeries.
Following a 12-hour manhunt for the suspect, Kenneth Knutson was eventually arrested. He has a long rap sheet and is now facing four charges, including attempted murder. A second suspect was also charged with willfully resisting or obstructing a police officer.
