WATCH: Burglar cat eats over $1000 worth of seafood

Usually when we talk about a brazen cat burglar stealing over $1000 worth of merchandise, we’re referring to a human being and not an actual cat.

Workers at the Vladivostok International Airport (VVO) in eastern Russia caught this cat in the act of helping himself to a seafood counter at one of the airport’s restaurants.

But like any good cat, the furry thief wasn’t content with just the usual salmon or tuna.

Instead, he went right for the higher-end menu items: squid, flatfish, and dried octopus among other delicacies.

By the time he was done, the hungry cat had rung up a bill of over $1100.

Now in case you’re wondering, the cat didn’t actually eat every single bite of every item he sampled, which would have made him the feline equivalent of Joey Chestnut.

Instead, like a bad customer at an all-you-can-eat sushi place, the cat merely tried several items without finishing them.

However, the restaurant was still forced to throw out everything the cat tried or even walked on – after all, who wants to buy expensive fish that was previously sampled by a feral cat?

And speaking of the cat, airport authorities have no idea how he managed to break into the restaurant in the first place.

Shop assistants told PrimaMedia news in Russia that the cat is homeless and lives near the airport, occasionally coming into one of the terminals for food or warmth.

But how he managed to pull off this heist is a mystery – the store was locked prior to the “break-in”, and airport officials aren’t quite certain how the cat managed to get inside.

Vladivostok Airport officials want to assure the public that the store has been properly disinfected in accordance with local sanitation laws.

As for the animal, we’re guessing he’ll be washing dishes for quite some time to pay off his exorbitant seafood tab.
