Vancouver Police officers are stepping up to help a young family burned out of their home.
Officers were so moved by the family’s plight, they’re hoping to put smiles back on the children’s faces by raising money for them.
A small lunch and a hotel room is all the Edwards Family of four has left.
The fire broke out Monday at their home on Renfrew Street, completely destroying their suite. Four-year-old Isaiah had accidentally knocked over a burning candle.
Isaiah and his mother, Fay, were the only ones home at the time. They were treated for smoke inhalation and released.
Unfortunately, the family didn’t have insurance.
The father, Jason, works days as a mover and Fay works nights at McDonald’s, just to make ends meet.
The fire was merciless, taking even the Christmas presents the couple had already bought for their boys, Isaiah, and six-year-old Zaheim.
Two Vancouver Police officers who responded to the fire have set up a crowdfunding campaign.
They’ve already raised over $1,000.
Cops for kids will also replace the Christmas gifts and Christmas dinner will also be provided.
