TORONTO – The Buffalo Bills and Rogers Communications have come to an agreement to end the Bills Toronto Series, the NFL club announced Wednesday.

“We greatly appreciate the support we’ve received over the past seven years from all of the tremendous people at Rogers Communications,” said Bills President Russ Brandon in a media release.

“We will continue to work hard to solidify our footprint in Southern Ontario. Our fan base in this region remains extremely important to our organization and their support has been well documented.”

The series began in 2008 when the Bills became the first NFL team to host a regular season game in Canada.

The Bills’ new owners, Terry and Kim Pegula, said last month that they had no immediate plans to tinker with the team and the main focus should be with the players on the field.

Kim Pegula told the Associated Press in November that they wanted all their homes games to be played in Buffalo.

The series was placed on hold in March, when the Bills and Toronto-based Rogers Communications announced an agreement to postpone holding a game north of the border this season.

The Bills have a 1-5 record since the series was launched in 2008. Under the existing agreement, which was renewed in 2013, the Bills were scheduled to play four more regular-season games in Toronto.
