TORONTO – Ontario Provincial Police say a fatal collision involving a tractor-trailer has forced the closure of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Bowmanville.
The single vehicle collision happened around 10 a.m. just before Liberty Street.

OPP officers warn traffic in the area could be slow for several hours as police investigate and crews, including a heavy tow truck, work to clean up the mess.
All lanes of Highway 401 both eastbound and westbound near Liberty Street in Bowmanville have been closed due to the investigation.
Motorists traveling eastbound are currently being diverted at Holt Road and those traveling westbound are being forced off at Bennett Road.
