Police release sketch of alleged sexual assault suspect

EDMONTON — Edmonton police have released a composite sketch in hopes of identifying a man allegedly involved in a sexual assault downtown in September.

Police say the assault happened around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the area of 95 Street and 101 Avenue.

A 56-year-old woman told police she was on her way into an apartment building in the area when she was approached and grabbed by an unknown man. Police say the man allegedly threatened the woman and sexually assaulted her. Police say the suspect ran away from the scene when the woman struggled and screamed for help.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The suspect is described as a man in his late teens to early 20s. He is about six-feet tall with a thin build, brown hair and small, narrow eyes. Police say he was wearing a dark blue or black spring jacket with a red stripe down the outer sleeve.
