Fiery crash between semi and pick-up in Surrey

Two drivers were taken to hospital after a semi and a pickup truck collided head-on in Surrey tonight.

The crash happened at 176 Street and 88 Avenue just after 8 p.m. tonight.

The semi landed in the ditch and caught fire after the collision. There were no fire hydrants in the area so water tenders were needed to shuttle water to the scene.

Both drivers were taken to Royal Columbian Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 15 will remain closed for several hours while police investigate. Traffic is being diverted to 88th Avenue.
