More than a few New Westminster residents had a rude awakening this morning.

At least 28 cars along London Street between 15th and 20th Streets were keyed at about 8:30 p.m. last night.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

One neighbour saw the man doing the damage and chased him six blocks before losing him.

“It’s just not a pleasant way to wake up in the morning,” said one woman who was a victim of the car keying.

“I just don’t understand what the motive is and why people do this kind of stuff. It’s disrespectful and costs us money. It’s an expensive city, so it’s just an extra bill we have to pay.”
