Toronto Maple Leafs mega-fan Matthew Ward got some good news Friday, and more could be on the way.
A man from Moncton saw Ward’s story Wednesday on Global News and decided to help the young man from Riverview, who is bedridden and unable to travel from his home to watch the Leafs play due to an aggressive form of muscular dystrophy.
Jim Fancy donated a blue Maple Leafs jersey with the name and number of superstar Phil Kessel on it to Ward.
Global News reporter Shelley Steeves brought the jersey to Ward, who was thrilled and thanked everybody for the messages of support he has been receiving since the story aired.
After the jersey was delivered, Ward’s mother got a call from the Maple Leafs organization, which said it is planning something as well, although details have yet to be confirmed.
