PENTICTON – The Penticton Indian Band is considering getting into the medical marijuana business.
Chief Jonathan Kruger says the proposal is for a joint venture with a Vancouver company, Kaneh Bosm BioTechnology, to build three greenhouses on 20 acres of reserve land.
The greenhouses would be 50×30 metres and three stories tall.
Kruger says a community meeting will be held later this month when band members will vote on the proposed project.
If approved, a license application will be filed with Health Canada.
Kruger says a medical marijuana operation would bolster band coffers and provide job opportunities for band members.
He would like to see construction begin within a year.
