Scene of the crash in Surrey. Curtis Kreklau, Global News

A serious crash in Surrey has sent four people, including a three-year-old girl, to hospital.

The crash happened at 168th Street and 56th Avenue just after ten last night.

A Honda Civic going southbound on 168th Street was turning left onto Highway 10 when it was struck by a Audi A4 going northbound on 168th Street.

The impact of the crash was so severe, one of the vehicles were sheared in half.

The child, who was in the rear passenger car seat, sustained serious injuries.  She remains in serious, but stable condition in hospital.

The driver of the Civic, who is the child’s mother, and driver and passenger of the Audi were taken to hospital, but have since been released.

Alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as contributing factors, but investigators are looking into whether speed was involved.
