Dog gets surgery to remove cantaloupe-size growth hanging from his neck

Biggy has had the surgery to remove the growth from his face. BC SPCA

VANCOUVER – A dog who is at the BC SPCA’s Chilliwack branch has now had surgery to remove a growth the size of a cantaloupe hanging from his neck.

‘Biggy’ was under the knife for two hours last week and had to get 62 stitches the remove the growth that had been hanging from his face for nearly three years.

Staff at the BC SPCA say Biggy is now doing tremendously well and is active and happy.

The Shar-pei was taken into care during a recent animal cruelty investigation.

His vet bills came to more than $3,000 and that is when the BC SPCA reached out to the public for help.

Now Biggy’s next task will be looking for his forever home.
