Shawn Dobson beat out incumbent city councillor Grant Nordman to win St. Charles.
He took 5,040 of the votes to Nordman’s 3,972.
This was the third time the two had gone head-to-head in St. Charles, with Nordman coming out on top in the last civic election.

Dobson, who works at St. James School Division as a journeyman carpenter, also came out ahead of fellow candidates Eric Holland, Don Woodstock, Dwight Hildebrandt, and Geoff Borden.
Dobson joins a number of fresh faces on city council along with Jason Schreyer, Cindy Gilroy, and Janice Lukes who also defeated sitting councillors.
