Jason Schreyer will be the next city councillor for Elmwood-East Kildonan after beating out incumbent Thomas Steen.
Steen, a former Winnipeg Jet, had been running for re-election but was charged with assault earlier this year following an incident with a woman at a Winnipeg restaurant in May.

Steen was elected as councillor in Elmwood-East Kildonan in the 2010 municipal election.
Schreyer won by more than 2,500 votes, also beating out candidates Paul Quaye and Jason Cumming.
