WINNIPEG — Following the news of the shootings at and around Parliament in Ottawa, Winnipeg’s 17 Wing has cancelled a scheduled media event.

The Royal Canadian Air Force said it is “implementing additional domestic force protection measures to ensure the safety” of Defence Department and Canadian Armed Forces members. The move is precautionary, they said.

Personnel from 17 Wing are leaving today to support Operation IMPACT in Iraq. They were planning to meet the media at 2:45 p.m. to talk about joining the fight against ISIL.
