HALIFAX — One of the busiest intersections in Halifax was shut down temporarily Thursday night after a tractor-trailer flipped near the Fairview Overpass.

Police confirm the driver was uninjured when his truck ended up on its side while navigating the five-lane section of the Bedford Highway.

The truck’s driver spoke with paramedics but police say he was uninjured.

Police blocked traffic from coming near the truck for a few hours because a substantial amount of its fluids was leaking onto the road. The road was clear by 2 a.m. Friday morning.

Halifax Regional Police Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs confirms police are “unsure of the cause of the incident” but that officers will be interviewing the driver.

Police were unsure if the tractor trailer was empty or full, but say if it did have cargo, none of it spilled onto the road.
