The Kansas City Royals’ improbable march to the World Series has the entire city in a frenzy – including one particularly famous fan.

Interviewed on the diamond by local news station KMBC-TV 9 in the moments following the Royals’ 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, actor and Royals fan Paul Rudd was excited.

Excited enough to invite fans to come party at his mom’s house.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“I’m going to be partying at my mom’s house!” the Role Models actor exclaims.

“Is everybody invited, or just a select group?” the reporter asks.

“She’s out of town, I got a keg, and it’s going to be sweet!” replies Rudd, tongue-probably-planted in cheek.

Yet in true kegger fashion, Rudd reminds Royals fans that partying ain’t free, shouting “Five dollar cover!” as the reporter tries to send it back to the studio.

And while you may be thinking to yourself “Wait…Paul Rudd is a Kansas City Royals fan?”, it’s important to point out that the team hasn’t made the playoffs since 1985, so he hasn’t exactly had lots of opportunities to show off his fandom.

And this isn’t a case of Rudd “Drake-ing” the team either (sorry Drizzy) – Rudd and his family moved to Overland Park, Kansas when he was 10 years old, and he also attended the University of Kansas.

The Royals will face the winner of the San Francisco Giants/St. Louis Cardinals NLCS series in the World Series.
