Calgary’s ‘Falconridge rapist’ sentenced to four years for B.C. assault, carjacking

VANCOUVER – A man in known in Calgary as the “Falconridge Rapist” has been sentenced to four years for carjacking a Langley woman at knifepoint last year.

Andrew Aurie Jefferson terrorized a northeast Calgary neighbourhood for months about eight years ago. He was known for grabbing strangers and sexually assaulting them. Police eventually caught him and he was convicted of raping two women and attempting to assault a third.

He was released in 2011 after serving six-and-a-half years in jail and was living in Langley, B.C. He was dubbed a high-risk to reoffend.

Shortly after his release he was back in court, accused of choking and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl he met online. However, he was found not guilty.

In June 2013 he was again in trouble with the law for allegedly assaulting a woman during a carjacking.

The judge also labeled Jefferson as a “long-term offender” and said he is at a high-risk to re-offend sexually. He will be under strict supervision for ten years after he finishes his sentence.

Because Jefferson receives 497 days credit for time already served, his sentence will be reduced to two years and seven months in jail.
