Jon Burnside soundly defeated incumbent councillor John Parker to take Ward 26 Don Valley West.
Burnside won 42.7 per cent of the vote. Parker came in second with 28 per cent.
Burnside is a former police officer and helped to create a house league hockey program in Flemingdon and Thorncliffe Park.

Parker was first elected to council in 2006 and was a member of the Ontario legislature from 1995 to 1999. He is the only incumbent this election to lose his seat.
