TORONTO – Coun. Shelley Carroll has won re-election in Ward 33, Don Valley East, a seat she’s held since 2003.
Carroll finished well ahead of her competitors, with 60.5 per cent of the vote. Divya Nayak placed second with 21.9 per cent.
In the 2010 election, Carroll won Ward 33 with more than 57 per cent of the vote. This time she’s running against four other candidates for the seat.
A hot-button issue in the ward has been public transit and the debate over the Sheppard LRT vs subway. Carroll has supported the LRT proposal; her competitors largely favour the subway proposal.
