VERNON — The future of the Vernon’s Civic Arena will remain unsettled for a while longer.

Plans for a referendum next month on a second ice sheet at Kal Tire Place have been called off.

The vote failed to get approval from Victoria over concerns of city ownership and regional debt financing.

The city says it will work with the province on trying to find a solution.

The new arena would have replaced the 77 year Civic Arena as an ice sheet.

Another referendum on up $70 million in water projects is still going ahead.
