VANCOUVER — A group of Tsawwassen residents are gearing up for a fight south of the border. They’re concerned about radio towers being built in Point Roberts, which is only a few metres away from their homes. They say the towers could interfere with electronic devices, such as baby monitors, televisions and cordless phones.
The five, 45-metre towers are planned only 330 metres from the Tsawwassen borders and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission has already given its approval, as has Whatcom County.
James Moore’s press secretary emailed Global News the following statement on the matter:
…”We appreciate the concerns of Tsawwassen residents and recognize the need to have their voices heard by the American authorities responsible for this decision. Residents deserve a voice in this process and that is why senior government officials have raised their concerns with both the FCC and the U.S. Embassy.”
The Cross Border Coalition is preparing to appear at a County hearing in a few weeks and say they’re hoping they’ll be heard.
