EDMONTON — Grande Prairie RCMP has confirmed the man who was shot outside a pub in Grande Prairie early Wednesday morning was from Edmonton.
Officers were called to a report of gunshots at the Canadian Brewhouse, located at the corner of 108 Street and 104A Avenue in Grande Prairie, around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
A severely injured man was found lying in the parking lot; he was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
RCMP say the man was a patron at the Canadian Brewhouse that evening, and believe he was shot shortly after leaving the bar.
An autopsy was conducted in Edmonton. The man’s death has been deemed a homicide.
Police do not believe the shooting was a random act.
The victim has been identified as 28-year-old John William Rock.
