TORONTO – City councillor Anthony Perruzza handily won the race for Ward 8, winning more than 71 per cent of the vote.

The former NDP MPP first won the seat in the 2006 election, besting longtime rival Peter Li Preti by 579 votes. Perruzza beat Li Preti for a second time in the 2010 election, this time by just 352 votes. Li Preti had beat Perruzza in both the 2000 and 2003 elections – both by a narrow margin.

Arthur Smitherman was a distant second place in the 2014 election, with nearly 11 per cent of the vote.
