TORONTO — Canadian pop star Justin Bieber revealed Wednesday he is nursing a ruptured eardrum.

The 20-year-old pop star told his 55 million Twitter followers he “busted” his eardrum while cliff diving.

“Doc says might need surgery now,” he tweeted. “Sucks.”

Bieber said the injury might delay work on new music. “Damn  u cliff diving!,” he added.

A ruptured eardrum — a tear in the membrane separating the outer ear and inner ear — can lead to middle ear infections and hearing loss, according to Web M.D.

While surgery may be required, a ruptured eardrum typically heals on its own within a couple of months.

Fans quickly took to Twitter to offer Bieber wishes for a speedy recovery. Others weren’t so sympathetic.
