CALGARY – The homicide unit is investigating what police are calling a suspicious death.
Police say they have a man in custody who is a person of interest, after a woman in her forties was found dead in a home in the southwest neighbourhood early Sunday afternoon.
Officers received multiple calls about a woman in distress at the 200 Block of Holy Cross at about 12:30 pm.
The man was taken into custody shortly after police arrived on scene and found him a short distance away from the home.
Police say the man and victim do know each other.
“Right now, we know there is a relationship, we’re just trying to determine what that is, said Insp. Nancy Farmer with Calgary Police.
“They were known to each other. We’ve included our domestic conflict unit to determine what if any previous experience there is with CPS. We’re just trying to piece all that together right now.”
Police have not released any details about how the woman died, but say it was not considered a random incident.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
