WATCH: Six men in custody after Surrey RCMP’s crackdown on a car theft operation

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with car theft and property crimes in Surrey.

Mounties set up surveillance at a residence near 151st Street and 70A Avenue last Friday.

Three cars recently reported stolen were seen on the property.

One of the residents was a known prolific offender who had recently been involved in property crimes.

Three men, known to police, were seen leaving the residence each in one of the stolen vehicles.

The three suspects then returned to the residence, left in a fourth stolen vehicle and returned a few minutes later.

Nine people were taken into custody without incident when officers moved in.

The investigation involved multiple stolen vehicles. The five stolen cars were a 2010 Hyundai Genesis, 1996 GMC Jimmy, 1995 Nissan 200SX, 1999 Honda Civic and a 1998 Acura Integra, taken from White Rock and Surrey over a 24-hour span.

Mackenzie Russell, 20, has been charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Four youths, aged 15 to 17, have been charged with various property related crimes.

Another man is facing four counts of property related offences, but cannot be named at this point to protect the integrity of the investigation.

All suspects were also found in breach of various probation orders.

They will appear in court Sept. 17.
