Both pedestrians were rushed to hospital by Air Ambulance where the male victim died of his injuries. The female pedestrian, 79, sustained non-life threatening injuries and is still in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.

According to police, alcohol or speed do not appear to be factors in the accident. Witnesses say the setting sun may have caused an issue for the driver’s visibility.

Langley RCMP Traffic Services have taken over the investigation and Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Service were also on the scene.
