TORONTO — Calum Hood of pop group 5 Seconds of Summer is playing down buzz about something that popped out of his shorts in a Snapchat video.
A clip of the 18-year-old musician flashing his erect penis leaked online Thursday and quickly went viral.
Hood, bassist for the Australian band, quickly took to Twitter.
“Least ya know what it looks like now,” he tweeted.
Snapchat is an app that allows people to share photos and video clips that are automatically deleted after up to 10 seconds.
Hood admitted sharing his penis on Snapchat probably wasn’t such a good idea.
“I’m still just a teenage kid learning from mistakes,” he wrote.
Fans of 5 Seconds of Summer — whose current hit is “She Looks So Perfect” — didn’t seem to mind the added exposure. Hashtags like #WeLoveYouCalum and #WeDontCareCalumWeAreHereForYou were used to show support for the young musician.
This is the second time in a month fans of 5 Seconds of Summer were buzzing about a band member’s member.
At the Teen Choice Awards, the band appeared in an acceptance video wearing only towels — and drummer Ashton Irwin seemed to be excited about the award.
He later joked on Twitter: “Apparently I had a boner in the acceptance video….”
