EDMONTON – One man is dead and another is in life-threatening condition in two separate incidents currently under investigation.
The first happened downtown around 1:30 p.m. A man in his early 20s was found dead in a basement suite in the area of 107 Avenue and 110 Street. Police have not confirmed the cause of death, but are calling it suspicious. They also say there may have been a few people in the suite where the man died.
Homicide detectives have taken over the case.
Meanwhile, in the Whyte Avenue area, a man suffered life-threatening injuries after being found around 4:30 with a gunshot wound to this head.
Officers cordoned off the apartment building at 83 Avenue and 105 Street. Paramedics treated the man on scene, before taking him to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His age and identity are still unknown at this time.
Investigators have not yet determined whether the shooting is criminal in nature. Detectives continue to interview residents in the area.
“I want to emphasize, especially in both of these cases that it hasn’t been determined whether it’s criminal or not,” said Edmonton police spokesperson Scott Pattison.
Anyone with information about either of these two incidents is urged to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
