UPDATE: After investigating the scene and conducting an autopsy, it was determined by police that foul play played a part in the death of 36-year-old Christian Klatt. The victim lived in the New Westminster area but had no fixed address. Police believe he was living in the makeshift camp, where his body was found. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken over the case.

Police are investigating after a man’s body has been found in New Westminster last night.
On Saturday night, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a witness discovered the body on a river bank at the foot of Cumberland Street.
They are treating the death as suspicious.
The scene has been secured and Major Crime detectives are continuing their investigation.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages and more information will be released as it becomes available.
