TORONTO — Singer Ariana Grande has said one of the songs on her new album is about a boy who cheats on a girl — but not with a girl.

“It’s about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy,” Grande told Attitude. “That’s a very fun concept.”

The song, “Break Your Heart Right Back,” is included on Grande’s sophomore album My Everything, which is set for release Aug. 22.

It features rapper Childish Gambino (aka actor Donald Glover) and includes a sample of the Diana Ross classic “I’m Coming Out.”

“It’s a cheeky song,” Grande said. “I’m excited for people to hear it.”

The 21-year-old pop star told Metro the song is one her favourites on the album.

“It’s really funny because I believe it has happened to me,” she explained. “I’m not 100 per cent positive, but I’m 99.9 per cent positive.”

Grande — whose brother is openly-gay Big Brother competitor Frankie Grande — isn’t bitter, though.

“I would rather he cheats on me with a guy than with a girl any day! If I found out my boyfriend was gay, I would be like ‘OK!’ I’d be so relieved.’”

Grande’s comments have sparked speculation about which of her exes she is referring to.

One of them, Jai Brooks of the Janoskians comedy group, made it clear the song is not about him.

Grande took to Twitter to set the record straight, so to speak.
