Vancouver Police say Saturday’s crowd at the Celebration of Light was one of the biggest ever, estimated to be between 300,000 and 400,000.
There were several missing children reported lost in the large crowds, but all were fairly quickly reunited with their parents.
Police also extinguished at least two small fires, one downtown and one at Kits Beach, both believed to be the result of improperly discarded cigarettes.
The fires does not appear to have affected operations at the pool today.
Overall, police say things were pretty quiet. They dealt with 346 liquor pour outs, 57 liquor seizures, six weapons seizures, arrested two people for intoxication in public, seven people for breach of peace and issued 46 violation tickets.
Transit Police also report a quiet night considering the large crowds.
They had a few incidents of note and a some arrests, but overall not too many problems.
Their officers conducted 66 liquor pour outs, two weapons seizures, two violation tickets issued and five arrests for intoxication in a public place.
