TORONTO – Five teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16 have been arrested in connection with a fire that gutted a home and damaged two others in Leslieville Thursday morning.
Police allege four boys and a girl broke into the home – on Minto Street near Eastern Avenue and Leslie Street – and stole some power tools before setting the house on fire.
The home was under construction at the time and burned quickly. The fire also spread to neighbouring homes.
The suspects, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared in youth court Friday morning.
Two people had to be rescued from the fire but neither suffered serious injuries.
