TORONTO – Commuters on the Burlington Skyway bridge may be a few hours late as the Toronto-bound lanes were shutdown Thursday after a dump truck smashed into overhead scaffolding.
Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring tweeted later Thursday the accident could keep the bridge closed for days.
The incident happened just a few minutes before 4 p.m. when the dump truck, with its dumping bed raised, drove into the scaffolding.
One person suffered minor injuries.
The incident has shutdown the Toronto-bound lanes as officials assess the scaffolding’s stability.
