UPDATE April 15, 2015: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has made an arrest in a 2014 Surrey Homicide.
On July 25, 2014 Donald Deweyn was stabbed to death during an altercation with two men in a Surrey parking lot.
On August 20, 2014, 23 year old Dylan Dempsey was charged with manslaughter in the death of Dewyn. IHIT has now announced that 28-year-old Tyson Cole is also facing a charge of manslaughter in the death of Dewyn.
Deweyn was a retired mill worker, a widow and homeless at the time of his death. He had no criminal record and no negative contact with police.
Sgt. Stephanie Ashton, IHIT media relations officer said “IHIT investigators worked tirelessly until both alleged suspects were identified and charges were laid.”
“The thorough work done by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and all the officers involved has brought another successful investigation in front of the Courts” added Chief Supt. Bill Fordy, officer in charge of the Surrey RCMP. “We hope this will help bring closure to the family and friends of the victim.”
Cole is remanded until his next court appearance on April 29.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) will be taking the lead in a murder case following a stabbing in Surrey early this morning.
Just before 5 a.m. Surrey Mounties were called to the 10600-block of 135A Street after reports of a man suffering from stab wounds.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
He has been identified as 63-year-old Donald Williams Deweyn.
The scene of the stabbing has been cordoned off as IHIT and the Surrey RCMP continue their investigation.
