REGINA – A Regina musician was in shock after woman shouted homophobic slurs at him at a popular Regina ice cream hangout last week.
Posting on Facebook about the incident, Jeffery Straker said he was eating ice cream at the Milky Way when a lady approached him and asked “Are you a faggot?”
Straker was taken aback but simply told her that the comment she made was disgusting, and really homophobic. She simply replied “Well, you look like a faggot.”
“This really struck a chord with me, so I wondered why does this strike a chord? I think it’s because people don’t think this happens anymore, or they like to think this doesn’t happen anymore.” said Straker.
Once the post was made on Facebook it quickly went viral, with numerous people commenting about the situation and what they would have done. But one thing Straker found interesting was despite the fact that several other people heard the comments, nobody said anything to the woman.
