MONTREAL – The mayor of Montreal has named two-time Olympic champion Alexandre Bilodeau to the organizing committee of the 2016 Quebec games.
“We’re proud to be preparing the games with an Olympian and exceptional athlete,” said Coderre in a statement.
“Alexandre is a source of inspiration for thousands of young athletes, with a disability or not, who see in him a model of tenacity and brotherhood.”

The games will be held in Montreal and will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Montreal Olympics.
Bilodeau won back to back gold medals in the Vancouver and Sochi Olympics.
“I hope to make the 2016 Quebec Games in Montreal synonymous with passion, transcendence and achievement for thousands of young athletes,” said Bilodeau in a statement.

In fact, he was the first Canadian athlete to win a gold medal during the Vancouver Games.
The Quebec Games were created in 1970 as a multi-sport event held every two years throughout the province.
