VANCOUVER — Metro Vancouver has issued an Air Quality Advisory for eastern parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
The high concentration of ground-level ozone are expected to persist over the next few days, they say.
People are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activity in the mid-afternoon, when ozone levels are highest. Exposure is of particular concern for infants, the elderly and people with underlying medical conditions. Anyone experiencing symptoms such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing is asked to follow the advice of his/her health care provider and stay indoors in air conditioning.
The advisory is expected to continue until there is a change in the current weather.
