SASKATOON – Saskatchewan is known for its flat terrain and endless living skies.

According to a national survey released on Friday, many Canadians don’t see the prairie province as ‘beautiful’.

In fact, Abacus Data’s survey pegged Saskatchewan scenery as least beautiful among Canadian provinces.

“We’re not asking what’s the ugliest but we’re asking what’s the least beautiful,” said Alex Monk, Abacus Data research and finance director.

The survey also found Saskatchewan to be in the middle of the pack when it came to friendliness, business and management.

“Canadians do seem to think the coastal regions are the most beautiful. British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador – both scored high over the last few years,” said Monk.

Since the survey started in 2012, Saskatchewan scenery has been voted the least beautiful with 46 per cent of the votes this year. That is up from 43 per cent in 2013.

“People aren’t often exposed to the scenery away from the Trans-Canada Highway in Saskatchewan,” said Monk.

Though the survey about Canadian perceptions does not ask if participants have ever been to the provinces, they are judging.
