TORONTO – A group of New Jersey fishermen are going to need a bigger boat — or at least another chumbucket — after a great white shark ripped the bucket from the side of their boat.

Steve Clark and four other people were fishing last week when they had a “once in a lifetime” encounter.

“It was awesome. It wasn’t scary because we’re used to sharks, it was awesome,” Clark told CBS. “I happened to see it first and obviously I was a bit stunned, I didn’t say anything to anybody, I was just trying to process the information because it was quite a big fish.”

The crew was out fishing for mako sharks when the great white decided to have a snack of his own.

According to Clark, the 16-foot shark circled the boat for about 20 minutes before disappearing into the water.

“The likelihood of seeing another one that close… probably never going to happen again,” he said. “It was a great event, a once in a lifetime deal.”
