19-year-old charged in Whyte Avenue pedestrian death

EDMONTON – Charges have been laid against a 19-year-old woman in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash in January.

At the time of the incident, witnesses told police a Chevy Cobalt was heading north on 101 Street and made a left-hand turn onto Whyte Avenue. The vehicle then struck the victim: a 27-year-old man who was crossing the avenue at a marked crosswalk.

Emily Holmes has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and careless driving.
