The only Ontario riding that completely encircles another one, this district surrounds the city of Guelph and also includes the municipality of Erin and the northeast, rural part of Halton.

History

PC MPP Ted Arnott has held a seat in this area since 1990, holding Wellington-Halton Hills since it was created for the 2007 election. Last election, he defeated Liberal candidate Moya Johnson by more than 12,000 votes.

By the numbers

59.5% of people over 15 are married in this riding, 8th-highest in southern Ontario. Only 16.2% of households have one person – only neighbouring Dufferin-Caledon has a smaller percentage among rural ridings in southern Ontario.
