Geography

Its geography self-evident from the name, this riding is bordered by Victoria Park Avenue to the west, the Transmission Line and Eglinton to the north, and Bellamy Road (and creek) to the east.

History

Liberal MPP Lorenzo Berardinetti has held this seat since 2003, winning between 44 and 47% of the vote in each of his three victories. The riding also has NDP heritage, with former leader Stephen Lewis holding the defunct seat of Scarborough West from 1963 to 1978.

By the numbers

In the 2011 census, the median income was $22,617, 59.2% of people said they lived in the same address from 2006 to 2011, and 27.5% of people identified as third generation Canadians or more – the highest numbers of the five Scarborough-only ridings.
