History

Cheri DiNova won this riding for the NDP in a 2006 by-election after Liberal Gerard Kennedy made the leap into federal politics, and has held the seat ever since. The area has tended to vote for the NDP and Liberal candidates, but the wealthier neighbourhoods in the west of this riding have often supported the Tories.

46% of households only had one person in the 2011 census, the most in Ontario outside of Toronto Centre. English is the mother tongue of 67.5% of people, the highest number in Toronto.
