The HEU says 47,000 healthcare workers have voted 96 per cent in favour of a strike.
The workers are members of the Facilities Bargaining Association. Key issues for the union are job security, protection of benefits and improved health and safety provisions.
The union represents care aides, ambulance paramedics, pharmacy techs and cleaning staff, among other occupations.
The current collective agreement expired on March 31, 2014. Bargaining broke off in late March according to the HEU.
