WATCH ABOVE: Watch as a hidden camera catches a woman stealing toy from toddler’s grave site
TORONTO – A woman wearing sunglasses and a white T-shirt is earning the online scorn of thousands after a hidden camera caught her stealing a toy duck from a child’s gravesite in Ontario, Ohio.
But it’s unlikely she’s the only culprit.
The Ontario Police department said flowers, wreathes and toy tanks have been stolen from a local gravesite since parents of a deceased 14-month-old reached out to them two years ago.
“They explained that their sweet little boy, Hayden ‘Tank’ Cole Sheridan, had passed away in 2007 and someone has been stealing toys and solar night lights from his gravesite ever since,” wrote the police in an April 22 Facebook post.
Police set up a camera to catch the thieves, but didn’t get a clear enough image until Saturday—when they captured a woman on video taking a yellow stuffed Easter duck just hours after the family placed it on the grave.
“The family wants the person who did this to be held accountable however they recognize that this person is probably not responsible for all of thefts from ‘Tank’s’ gravesite,” wrote police.
“Most of all, the family just wants some assurance that they can leave a night light and a stuffed animal at their son’s grave without someone stealing it.”
Police have asked anyone who recognizes the woman to contact the Ontario Police Department at (419) 529-2115 or send them a private message on Facebook.
