Winners of Boston Marathon cross finish line a year after bombings

ABOVE: Runners of all kinds are proving they are Boston Strong at the 118th Boston Marathon, one year after a deadly bombing halted the famous race in it’s tracks

Winners from the male and female categories in the Boston Marathon have crossed the finish line.

American Meb Keflizighi won on the men’s side with a time of two hours, eight minutes, and 37 seconds.

For the women, Kenyan Rita Jeptoo defended her title with a course record time of two hours, 18 minutes, and 57 seconds, winning the race for the third time. She has become the seventh three-time Boston Marathon champion.

This year’s race comes one year after  two pressure-cooker bombs went off near the finish line, killing three people and wounding more than 260.
