Winners of Boston Marathon cross finish line a year after bombings

Winners from the male and female categories in the Boston Marathon have crossed the finish line.

American Meb Keflizighi won on the men’s side with a time of two hours, eight minutes, and 37 seconds.

For the women, Kenyan Rita Jeptoo defended her title with a course record time of two hours, 18 minutes, and 57 seconds, winning the race for the third time. She has become the seventh three-time Boston Marathon champion.

This year’s race comes one year after  two pressure-cooker bombs went off near the finish line, killing three people and wounding more than 260.
