CALGARY- An alert has been issued for areas north of Calgary, where high water levels have led to overland flooding.

The Alberta Emergency Alert applies to Kneehill County, which includes the town of Three Hills and is just west of Drumheller.

Spring runoff has caused parts of Kneehill Creek and Three Hills Creek to breach their banks, and people are being urged to avoid low areas.

There are also a number of road closures in place.

A similar alert has also been issued for Mountain View County, where there are elevated water levels. That one affects towns including Olds and Didsbury, and has also resulted in road closures.

A number of high water level alerts have been issued around Alberta over the past week.
